At Gaffron's Sunrise Bakery we appreciate your continued interest and support. For more than
25 years we have offered a variety of products produced from our own "made-from-scratch" recipes - including many
interesting artesian breads as well as hearty whole wheat and white sandwich breads, pastries and treats, rolls, soups,
and entrées with many vegetarian offerings, focusing on using the finest ingredients available to us including organic
and locally produced goods.
For the Holiday season we offer our family's traditional Brandied Fruitcake, Springerle,
Lebkuchen and German Stollen.
Initially Margie began the business in 1979 at the request of friends for "home-made"
bread and baked from her licensed and inspected kitchen in Woodward for several years. In 1990 Sunrise Bakery moved to its own
production space on the Gaffron homestead outside of Centre Hall - a large airy building with east and south facing windows
and beautiful early Brush Valley morning skies that may rival any in the world. As the business expanded, Gaffron's became
a true family business with daughters Rebecca and Abby learning the trade and adding to the business until they moved on.
Son Toby learned to mix dough the summer he was 14 and today,13 years later, he is the "Baker", managing the bakery
in the summer season while Margie is Chef Manager of a resort / lodge near Scranton. They work together again for the holidays
and indoor winter Farmer's Markets.
Stop by to say hi to Margie at the indoor winter Markets and plan to meet Toby this season
at the outdoor Farmer's Markets. Toby is working on a new rice flour sourdough and will continue to offer new sprouted
grain products. The Sprouted Wheat 3 Seed is a favorite. We welcome you to sample our products and enjoy chatting with you
about our products and food in general.
