Littlefield Farm, owned and operated by Tom Littlefield and Bruce Cappel, is a thirty-one
acre diversified farm located about twelve miles southwest of Mifflin, Pa. in Juniata County. We grow a wide variety of
vegetables and flowers and herbs, with particular interest in the heirloom varieties. In the future, as our fruit trees
mature, we will offer heirloom apples, plums, quinces, cherries and pears. This year our blackberries, raspberries,
gooseberries and currents will begin to bear enough fruit to bring to market.
We use no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides on our crops. We use only
natural methods of cultivation, including cover cropping, crop rotation, companion planting, extensive hand cultivation of weeds
and mulching to improve the quality of the soil and to disrupt disease, weed and pest cycles.
2010 is our third year as full time farmers and our third year at the Boalsburg Farmers Market.
It has been a pleasure to bring our produce to this market and we look forward to our third year. We plan to apply for organic
certification in the near future as a further assurance to the people who buy our produce.
